rød_sten is community project founded on November 10th, 2024. The aim of the project is to encourage and administer collective efforts of compilations of open data for academic and research purposes.

The founding idea of rød_sten was to utilise the extensive human capital of university students to create high quality original datasets for the growing demands of quantitative research.

Data and quantitative analysis is becoming increasingly valuable. Research, and particularly academic work, is bound by the availability of data. Because of this, groundbreaking research must often create new datasets from scratch. This is especially demanding for inexperianced and time-pressed students who often must collect and prepare data on their own.

At rød_sten, we are not alone.

Our goals are to engage students of all social science diciplines in collective efforts, to enhance their skills in quantitative research and data compilation, and to produce peer-reviewed and quality data for academic and research purposes.
